URBAN HARVEST STL, MAY 22 at 9 am

May: Let's Volunteer Together

Several organizations in St. Louis share a similar mission of improving local community access to fruits and vegetables while working to eliminate food deserts. Let's get together to work towards this worthy cause. This year, we will be teaming up with Urban Harvest STL where we will volunteer at the rooftop farm. Their mission is to "build community around inclusive, resilient, local food systems.

April 2021: Book Club Discussion

Picture
Guided by thoughtful questions, this two-part discussion prompted participants to reflect not only on the themes from the book, but also on the impact of systemic racism on their lives and the lives of their students.  Educators across the region were able to connect and share stories and insights, while reflecting on how we are affected by the caste system in America and what each of us can do to change the narrative.

March 2021: Equity in Education Film Series Launch

Picture
"Day One" follows a group of teenage refugees from war-torn countries who attend Nahed Chapman New American School in the St. Louis Public School District. The students are guided through an inspirational program of education, healing and trauma intervention by devoted educators, some of whom have chosen to relocate to the inner city to support their students.

While viewing the film, participants were able to pose questions and comments via Padlet in preparation for the meaningful discussion that followed. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6J52QdtsuJc
